Hello,
Can I use a combination of Nav attributes and main characteristics while running batch jobs. I know that, we cannot use Nav attributes to do planning upon and as to run batch jobs upon. However my question is,for example, Can we use Product, Customer along with one or two other Nav attributes like Planner, Product Status, Product Priority in the selection profile, but while just using Product and customer which are not Nav attributes as the levels for planning in the batch job? The idea is to run the select the dataset using Nav attributes, while still using only Chars for planning and saving data and running jobs.
Thanks,
Alicia
Hi Alicia,
You can use navigation attributes for planning run in background. Create selection profile in plannnig book and call it in background job. We do this in our SNP runs (MRP controller is one of the attribute we use)

Alicia,
Data is always stored and saved at Characteristic level like Product, Customer. When running background Jobs they can be executed using selection criteria with Nav attributes ( Using Selection ID ). The aggregation level point to the level that you need to perform the activity (Macro, Stat Fcst ...). In the aggregation level we can decide to use Charact , Navigational Attrib or a combination of them. Remember always that data finally is disaggregated and stored at lowest level of characteristic combination.
So you can select the dataset using Nav attributes (Via Selection ID), while still using only Chars for planning and saving data and running jobs (Defining chars in the Aggregation Level).
Hope this clarify your question
Best regards
Jose

Hi Alicia,
one problem you may get by using nav attr. in background planning is the creation of alerts. if your selection profile you use for aler geenration is different than the one you use for generating / displaying alerts, you will not be alble to see the alerts

you can use nav attributes for batch jobs... its mainly around forecast profile assignments...
You should read documentation on difference between characteristics and nav attributes.
Then ask question.
