C:windows\saplogon.ini file error

Former Member

Hi Experts,

I have SAPGUI 7.10 systems and whenever I add new SAP Server in SAP Logon Pad, a corresponding entry is created in C:\WINDOWS\SAPLOGON.INI file.

But in some system, part of file content is as below:

Server

Item1=

Item2=XXXXX

Item3=YYYYY

Item4=AAAAA

Item5=BBBBB

where in xxx, yyyy,aaa,bbb are the application server IP.

But here Item1= <space> as shown.

For other user systems, item1 corresponds for first entry of logon pad as expected.

Server

Item1=XXXXX

Item2=YYYY

Item3=AAAA

Item4=BBBBB

And I am getting an error if I try at system with item1=<space>.

Can you tell why this space is inserted on some system and not on others?

Thanks

Depesh.

Hello

this issue is caused by an manually change in the saplogon.ini file itself...

When the Saplogon.ini is changed with Notepad or wordpad, then this is a

manualy change in the file, and this is not supported.

Another cuase of this problem we do not known.

Please use for changes in your saplogon only the program Saplogon.exe itself!

For resolve this issue now:

Please copy a right saplogon.ini to the affected client.

Hi,

I am using sapgui 7.10 with patch level 14.

There is a space shown in all the systems and this creating a problem while executing an SAP shortcut by saying no system description found as it tries to search for a description from saplogon.ini. even if it exists but with a space for item1.

nobody has manually changed the saplogon.ini file.

if i manually remove the space then add server list again or i copy the file with no space from somebody system then it works without error.

But i cannot copy and replace this file if i have 1000+ user working on a solution having their saplogon.ini file with item1=space.

Kindly suggest some automated process to ensure the space removal.

thanks

Hello Depesh

sorry, but this is a fact. You saplogon.ini was changed in an non supported way.

When you change the entries with the Saplogon itself, this error can not happen!

You have told also taht every client has this problem... this looks for me taht anybody has

deployed an manually changed saplogon.ini to each client in your environment.

You have the possibility to deploay a new saplogon.ini to each client with the

scripting in teh SAP Frontend Installation Server.

Please have a look at the file

Installation Server Help.chm in the chapter

Package Event Scripting Samples

There you find a sample for deploying an saplogon.ini file to each client.

Best regards, Sven

Thanks, For the time being we have distributed file manually to replace the errorneous file.

But still looking for the automated method of using scripts as I dont know how scripts can be executed.
