Hi,
We are using BI 7.0 on HP-UX. We have a system with 15Gig memory and 4 IA64 CPU's. I'm looking at the memory configuration and have a few questions about this.
Our cuurent memory is as follow:
HP-UX 2000Mb
PGA 4000Mb
SGA 5000Mb
EM 4092Mb
Buffers 1787Mb
Java 2500Mb
Total 19379Mb
As you can see in the configuration there is more memory allocated than Physical memory availble. (19Gig vs 15Gig)
Is this oke? Can a part of this configuration lie on Swap or are the performanse isueues?
In SAP notes pga_aggregate_target is set to 40% of physical memory. That leaves just a small amount of memory left for the rest. Or is memory specified in pga_aggregate_target not allocated by startup?
What is a good way to monitor the PGA?
Lots of questions hope someone can help out.
What is a good way to monitor the PGA?
Did you try ST04-> Performance->Additional Functions-> Display gv$views->GV$PGASTAT ?

Have you taken into consideration swap space?
You may want to refer to SAP Note 146289 - Parameter Recommendations for 64-Bit SAP Kernel
