How to know which forecast category will be consumed by Sales Order

Hi SAP Experts,

Would you know where do we define which forecast categories will be consumed by sales order in APO? We are using two categories for our forecast (FA and FC) But In spro, Supply Chain Planning> Demand Planning (DP)> Consumption --> Specify Requirements Strategies path, we put FA in our category fields.

But in planning book, sales order are consuming both FA and FC forecast categories. So I am confused on where do we define/identify which categories will be consumed by sales order. Thanks.

Hi Mylene,

You need to create category group in customisation under SNP

--> basic settings --> maintain category groups.

This category group will be assigned to key figure which in turn

will be assigned to planning area. This will be used during forecast

consumption

Actually that setting doesn't do anything...

Any "order" of type "forecast" will be consumed by sales orders. Unless you implement oss note 437090.

Hi Mylene,

Consumption is also triggered by standard macro step consumption (forecast/sales) in stock balance macro. In this step SAP has specified forecast key figure for consumption. Now FA and FC both are assigned to forecast key figure hence in planning book sales orders will consume both FA and FC.

You may like to separate FA and FC in different key fig to avoid this confusion.

Kindly check it and confirm.
