Sum multiple MIC's in a calculated MIC

Former Member

Hello,

I would like to calculate a Master Inspection Characteristic by summing several other MIC's, all of which are listed in a consecutive order in my inspection plan. Can this be done without having to list each MIC that I would like in my summation?

Thanks,

Maggie

I also should add that the MIC that I am attaching the calculation to is setup as a reference characteristic, and that I have my inspection type setup to inspect with material specification. Could this have any effect on what I am doing?

Thanks.

Only the final characteristic containing the result you want needs to be in the material spec.

Set up CHAR 0200 =

Line 1: C00020C00030C00040C00050C00060C00070C00080C00090C00100

Line 2: C00110C00120C00130C00140C00150C00160C00170C00180

Set up CHAR 0210

Line 1: 100 - CO0200

CHAR 0210 is the one you want set up in the material spec.

Thanks for the response. The exact calculation that I need is as follows:

100 - (C00020C00030C00040C00050C00060C00070C00080C00090C00100C00110C00120C00130C00140C00150C00160C00170C00180)

This formula takes up both lines.

I have the master inspection characteristic set to single result, and of course a calculated characteristic.

Do I need to have the other MIC's that are part of the calculation also set to single result? I am getting an error saying that the characteristic is not set to "calculated" in the task list.

Thanks,

Maggie

How many characters do you need? The system allows 128 characters in a forumula. That should allow you to sum up at least 14 characteristics.

If that is not enough, you have two choices.

1) As mentioned, use two or more calculated characteristics - Use Charac A to sum 14 characteristics. Then use Charac B to sum up 13 more plus Charac B. That gives you the ability to add 27 values together. Use a third charac and you can do 40 together.

2) Create a function module to do all the work and configure it as Z1 in the QM config in the formula section. Then just specify Z1 in your formula.

Select the Control Indicator Calc Char for the MIC u want to have sum result

and in Inspection Plan when U assign this MIC it asks for Calculate formula

Give the formula (Use Help to put Correct format formula)

bye

Thanks for your response.

The issue is that formula field is not long enough for all of the MIC's that need to be added together.

Thanks.

Hi,

SAP Standard gives that much length only, we may need to Use enhasment to allow more!

Simple Logic..)))

Define 3-4 Calculated MICs so that the space provided is used without any enhancement.
