PI 7 EHP1 Upgrade Phase STARTSAP_PUPG aborts with MSSQL error 15157

Hello -

We are at the finishing stages of the upgrade on a tight timeline for our PI system. During the stage STARTSAP_PUPG, we get a MSSQL error stating that:

'Setuser failed because of one of the following reasons: the database principal 'xis_shd' does not exist, its corresponding server principal does not have server access, this type of database principal cannot be impersonated, or you do not have permission.'

The kernel for the XIS system we are upgrading is patched and is on 7.11 versions 64. In looking at the dev_* files in the work directory, we see this error. We are unsure what may need to be done on the SQL Server side because nothing has been done to add or delete and shadow instance user ID's for the XIS upgrade. Can you please assist? How i miss the world of ORACLE..... This was an issue solved after bouncing the MSSQL service for SAP and replacing the kernel. The system was restarted and everything was kosher. Tahnks! - Will S.
