Hi.

There is a nice little document, which tells you the ports used by SAP.

I think it's easy for you to find out the message server port of your AS JAVA.

Normally it should be 36<SYSTEM NUMBER>.

Martin

Normally it should be 36<SYSTEM NUMBER>.

Web Dispatcher communicates with SAP via HTTP so it would be 81<SYS-NUM>.

Nice document you found there.

Of course - you're right.

That's the problem when sitting at home and there'S no possibility to have a short look on a WD profile 🐵

  1. Accessibility of Message Servers

rdisp/mshost = xxxxxxx

ms/http_port = 81xx

By default the SAP message server does not usually listen on a HTTP port, you need to specifically configure it using parameter ms/server_port_x on your central instance. Once configured you can use the 'netstat' command to check if it is listening on the configured port.

Hi,

you could see details error in dev_webdisp trace.

- Check SAP note 552286 on typical troubleshooting for SAP Web Dispatcher.

- Check your webdisp profile on the accesssability of Message Server

rdisp/mshost

ms/http_port

- connection refused, means that the destination port is in used or not listening

cheers,

Vincent

On your Portal system, take a look at the profile for your SCS instance in /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile, it should contain ms/server_port_0 with the port being used. This is the port to configure in your web dispatcher ms/http_port

The hostname and server port you are talking about are for the same system, yes.

Sorry to confuse you, in my initial message I was referring to an ABAP only SAP system which doesn't use a http port to listen on by default for the message server. I didn't know this was for Portal

I'm assuming you have read the note mentioned in the error and performed the test under the "Message Server" section using telnet ? What was the result ?

If it couldn't connect, try connecting on the actual message server host. If it connects on the host then you know it's probably a firewall problem if not then you need to look at your configuration. As mentioned before use the command 'netstat' to determine if it is indeed listening on your port "8111".

thanks for your reply

my message server and my dispatcher are on the same server,so i think the firewall should not be the problem, and then i did as your told using the 'netstat', the '8111' is not listenning, thanks i will try to add a para for that port (ms/server_port_x).

See my reply previously:

On your Portal system, take a look at the profile for your SCS instance in \usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\profile, it should contain ms/server_port_0 with the port being used. This is the port to configure in your web dispatcher ms/http_port

You did say you were connecting web dispatcher to your portal system ? Check the profile for the parameter ms/server_port_0, it should already be configured. Profile <SID>_SCS01_<hostname>

The webdispatcher profile and the bootstrap should be the same, the message server profile is the one you want to use for ms/http_port. I'm assuming message server profile is the profile taken from your rdisp/mshost host ?

Hello zhangshi1986002,

probably you didn't give the right port number, so the web dispatcher si not able to connect to message server. Could you give us the complete log of the execution of the command?
