Long loading times in SAP Enterprise Portal

Hallo Experts,

We have problems with the loading times of SAP Portal.

It loads very long. What could be the reason for the long loading times?

Normally a WebApplication should be lean in itself and not take such a long time to load.

Is there anything we could install on our clients to make it load faster?

Thanx for your help.

Hi

What do you mean by long loading?

You mean portal default page display taking long time?

Or any other specific item.

What's the RAM size in your system?

How many Java Servers nodes configured in your system?

HI Sekhar,

we have a 2MBit line.

There is only one WebServer.

The loading size of the starting page is 1.5MB

Hi,

The starting page is heavy, so suggest to have a static page for default page.

Also as mentioned earlier do a proper sizing of the system in terms of memory and cpu.

The systems are more memory intensive and also find out the authentication mechanism( the time taken).

The loading of page takes into consideration the number of iviews to be loaded with your role specific data from connected systems(if default page has these).

The 2MB link seems good but you need to see how many users connect to these concurrently( if high then these need to be reconsidered).

If the first page is common for all users or the majority of users then there are SAP products which can cache the information which can reduce the load times of pages( but these involve additional hardware).

I would suggest doing a sizing check with the think times and the response times expected for your customer and validate with your current hardware( ideally this should have been the first step), or get an post go-live assessment done by SAP support which can identify system parameter changes.
