Do you know if the network description field is available for substitution?
If not what is the alternative to get text copied from the PD?
I don't think it's possible as per standard SAP
Field text of network header and activity is substituable but project definition's text can't be transferred as the substitution
Field CAUFVD-KTEXT cannot be substituted by PRPS-POST1
Message no. GB044
Diagnosis
You want to substitute field POST1 from table PRPS for field KTEXT in table CAUFVD. However, field PRPS-POST1 is not transferred to substitution, since it does not belong to a Boolean substitution class.
Procedure
Use search help to choose a field that belongs to a Boolean substitution class.

You are correct. CAUFVD-PRONR corresponds to internal numbering of project. You can ommit prps in the proposed solution and take advantage of PROJ immediately.

In order to get the substitution of CAUFVD-KTEXT with the project's text (PROJ-POST1) you can do the following.
Create a step for network header substitution that will subst the field CAUFVD-KTEXT by user exit.
In the user exit use tables PRPS and PROJ through CAUFVD-PROJN = PRPS-PSPNR and then from linking PRPS with PROJ in order to get the PROJ-POST1 and finally assigning CAUFVD-KTEXT = PROJ-POST1.
Do not forget to insert the substitution to network profile to get it executed automatically.(OPUU)
I hope it helps
