Attaching documents to sales order

Hi Friends,

I am attaching pdf, word, images, etc files to sales order. I am doing this in VA02 System --> Service for objects

I hope this is not the DMS process. I am able to attach successfully.

But i heard that this will affect system performance. Will it really affect performance? If so what is the other alternative for this (without DMS)?????

Kumar

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that GOS objects are not actually loaded into memory unless someone goes to view/change them. You can easily check this using Runtime Analysis or Performance Trace tools.

Technically any data you add to the system affects the performance, but it doesn't mean that we can't do anything. Just make sure to limit the attachment size and the number of attachments.

P.S. This is actually not an SD question - better check with your Basis admin.

Hi,

Attachment will certainly impact system performance. But you will have to check by testing the degree of impact on performance. If it is managable, then opting for attachment may be fine.

Possible alternative is to send the attachment separatemt by email.
