Hi all,
I am using DatabaseStudio 7.7.07.11 Build: 011-123-224-075 with jre1.5.0_18.
After a crash of DatabaseStudio I lost all "My Objects" and I had to install DatabaseStudio again.
Now when I connect to an "Administration Session" I get the following error:
Component: Catalog Plugin
Plugin: com.sap.sdb.tools.resources.catalog
Location: com.sap.sdb.tools.resources.catalog.CatalogResourcesPlugin.logErrorMessage(CatalogResourcesPlugin.java:130)
in the Event Log viewer. I do not want to connect to a SQL session ...

The connection to the "Administration Session" is ok, but why do I get the error? Still anything wrong with my DatabaseStudio?
Thanks
Christian
Hello Christian,
1. Did you run uninstall the DatabaseStudio before you had to install DatabaseStudio again?
Did you delete any database software manualy?
2. Please update with output of the commands:
sdbregview u2013l
dbmcli db_enum u2013s
Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Hello Natalia,
first I did an upgrade to 7.7.07.11 to get my "lost objects" back...
Than I run an uninstall and a reinstallation.
I did not remove the databade software manually.
The command show the following:
C:\>sdbregview -l
SAP Utilities c:/programme/sdb/programs 7.7.07.11 32 bit valid
Server Utilities c:/programme/sdb/programs 7.7.07.11 32 bit valid
Database Studio Utilities c:/programme/sdb/programs/databasestudio/utilities 7.7.07.11 valid
Database Studio c:/programme/sdb/programs 7.7.07.11 valid
Base c:/programme/sdb/programs 7.7.07.11 32 bit valid
C:\>dbmcli db_enum -s
OK
.UMDB C:\Programme\SDB\programs\DatabaseStudio\utilities 7.7.07.11 fast running
.M770711 C:\Programme\SDB\programs\DatabaseStudio\utilities 7.7.07.11 fast offline
For me this looks ok.
I would not have any problems if I would close the "event log viewer" tab in database studio, but I don't like unnecessary error messages.
Thank you.
Best regards
Christian
Hello Christian,
Could you please uninstall the database studio.
Check that the software was uninstalled successfully.
Is the directory c:/programme/sdb empty?
Also check C:\Documents and Settings\<your OS user>\sdb directory.
Is it empty?
Reboot your PC. Run the database studio installation after that & post the results.
Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina
Hello Natalia,
I uninstalled Database Studio as requested, removed the still existing entries in the directories
C:\Documents and Settings\<your OS user>\sdb
and
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\sdb
rebooted and reinstalled Database Studio. But I still get the same message.
I added a database (Server/Database add) using the correct password, because test it successful. When I do a doubleclick on the "control" user (expanding the view to "Database Server" and "Diagnosis Files") the message appears or when I do open an administration session (left click on user -> left click on "open administration").
I tested it with different servers and database, always the same message.
Maybe this is a feature and I did not recognized it before ...
Best regards
Christian
Hello Christian,
According the posted log:
u201CCatalogResourcesPlugin.java:130) in the Event Log viewer. I do not want to connect to a SQL session ... com.sap.dbtech.jdbc.exceptions.DatabaseException: [-4008]: Unknown user name/password combinationu201D
You tried to open the SQL session with wrong user/password combinations. To connect to a SQL session please use the SYSDBA < superdba by the SAP installation > or DBA user. You could not connect to a SQL session as control < dbm > user.
You added a database (Server/Database add). Start the database studio, mark the database, right click => login & use the SYSDBA user/password < the SQL user >, Test login, finish. Then try the SQL connect as the SQL user.
Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Hello Natalia,
I know, that the dbm-user can't execute SQL statements. But I do not want to, I just want to execute tasks with the dbm-user (backup/restore, adding datafiles, view tasks ... ), all task I can do with dbm-user in DBMGUI, so therefor the user control should be ok.
But if I am right, you say, that DatabaseStudio executes SQL session for its own (getting roles, schemas, users...), features requiring sysdba login in DBMGUI.
So it is really a "feature", and for me that means use the sysdaba user, even if I do not want to use features of this user, or ignore this message.
Thank you for your answers!
Best regards
Christian
Hi all,
