Create Oracle files for IDES ERP installation

Former Member

Hi everybody,

i am planning to install an IDES 6.0 System on Linux with Oracle. Could you please explain me why it is necessary to create the below files?

Is this necessary or is it only recommend?

Can i install oracle without to create these files?

And if i create these files by my own, should i do it before the SAP-Installation or after the oracle DB has been installed during the SAP-Installation?

How know the system during the installation, that these files have been created?

/sapmnt/<SID>

/usr/sap

/usr/sap/<SID>

/usr/sap/trans

/oracle

/oracle/client

/oracle/<SID>

/oracle/<SID>/102_64

/oracle/<SID>/origlogA

/oracle/<SID>/origlogB

/oracle/<SID>/mirrlogA

/oracle/<SID>/mirrlogB

/oracle/<SID>/oraarch

/oracle/<SID>/sapreorg

/oracle/<SID>/sapdata1

/oracle/<SID>/sapdata2

/oracle/<SID>/sapdata3

/oracle/<SID>/sapdata4

/oracle/<SID>/sapdata5

regards,

Sid

Hi,

Read the installation guide first it will explain all.

Is this necessary or is it only recommend?

Yes it's necessary unless it was pure windows.

Can i install oracle without to create these files?

No, you need to create the filesystem /oracle at least

And if i create these files by my own, should i do it before the SAP-Installation or after the oracle DB has been installed during the SAP-Installation?

Make sure you have all your flilesystems configured first....NOTE : be mindful of the size of the filesystems for sapdata's oracle home. E.G. Oracle home will want a minimum of 5GB. I recommend you copy all DVD's to disk also.

How know the system during the installation, that these files have been created?

Read the installation guide!

install oracle form RDBMS dvd (SAP MATERIAL), and the installer will create this folders for you

EDIT.

you must create this folders and share the /usr/sap along the net with SAPMNT, Grant full permission to Everyone.(Remove this permission after installation)

/usr/sap

/usr/sap/trans
