Diff between Stock transfer & transfer posting

Hi Experts

What is the difference between stock transfer & transfer posting. In SAP documents many places two differents terms are handeled? Can anyone clear my doubt

Hi

I think you can get better answer in MM forum.

Stock transfer : Physical movement must be there. ( Inventory physically moves from one storage location to another/plant to plant)

Example : 311 mvt type

Transfer posting: Physical movement may or may not be there. Just identification of the matereial / batch number changes. There may /may not have have locational transfer. Material to material posting & batch to batch postings will come under transfer postings.

Example: 309 mvt type
