EHP 4 for ERP 6 or EHP 4 for ERP 6/EHP 1 for Netweaver 7

Hi all,

I am planning an Enhancement pack 4 uprgade to our ERP 6 ABAP system, and I am unsure which Enhancement pack to use, we also have a BI 7 system which in the future will have an Enhancement pack upgrade also. Should I still use the EHP 4 for ERP 6 and EHP 1 for Netweaver even though we only have a ABAP stack on our ERP system? Also is it best to upgrade ERP system before the BI system?

Thanks for your help, I just want to make sure I get this right before I take the plunge.

Jay

Hi Jay.

If i were you i would not mix ERP and BI.

Check the attachements of sap note 1165438. With this pdf'S you can map your business needs to necessary enhancements. That is the note for EHP 4. The one for EhP 3 is 1083576.

On BI side, there is only EhP 1.

Which systems upgrading is up to you. I would start with the ERP system.

Hi,

For SAP NetWeaver 7.0 systems with usage types u201CEnterprise Portalu201D, u201CBusiness

Intelligenceu201D or u201CProcess Integrationu201D that are part of your SAP ERP 6.0 landscape, you can

choose between the following two options:

u2013 Installation of the EHP4 application software components only (product version

u201CEHP4 for SAP ERP 6.0u201D)

u2013 Installation of the EHP4 application software components and the SAP NetWeaver 7.0

EHP1 software components (product version u201CEHP4 for SAP ERP 6.0 / NW701u201D).

If product version u201CEHP4 for SAP ERP 6.0u201D is used, EHP1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 is

installed only on the system that contains the ECC Server, and on other systems that contain

ABAP-based product instances of SAP ERP 6.0.

If product version u201CEHP4 for SAP ERP 6.0 / NW 7.01u201D is used, EHP1 for

SAP NetWeaver 7.0 is also installed on systems with usage types u201CEnterprise Portalu201D,

u201CBusiness Intelligenceu201D or u201CProcess Integrationu201D that are part of your SAP ERP 6.0 landscape.

Hi Jay,

For ECC 6.0 system, you can upgarde it to EHP4 level even if you have ABAP stack only.

Also, when your ECC 6.0 system will be on EHP4 then you have to upgrade BI system to EHP1 level as well.

Check SAP note Note 1143022 - Installation of SAP Enhancement Package 4 on SAP ERP 6.0.

Thanks

Hello,

An enhancment package installation is ALWAYS a selective installation based on the business functions that you want to use.

If you select only business functions from EHP4 that will have no impact on BI you do not need to upgrade your BI system.

Everything is calculated automatically in your maintenance optimizer in Solution Manager.

Of course you need to correctly setup your solution landscape in Solution Manager, this is explained in the following document :

You will also see that when you select ECC business functions in your solution manager that require BI changes, your Maintenance Optimizer will prompt to upgrade your BI as well.

Same counts for Business Functions that require your portal to be upgraded.
