Registered Server Program

Hi

Why is that the Registered Server Program option is used only with the RFC sender adapter ? Why don't we need that when we use a receiver RFC adapter and a receiver R/3 system ?

In case of receiver RFC we send the message directly to the SAP System, however in case of the sender RFC the message is sent to a TCP/IP Gateway server and from there it is delivered to the requested application.

This is why you create a RFC destination of type TCP/IP. The message get delivered to the gateway server using the RFC destination of Type T with program id X and this message will be consumed by a service which has the program id X.

So the program id acts a connecter between the sender and the receiver. In other words it is similar to a listner port.

Addition to the above...

In R/3 we will not specify the port explicitly unlike for idocs..so for this cases like rfc we will be using rfc destination created which is of type 3 as it only contains the progid...nothing else apart from this...like sys details..through which receiver is determined..with the help of gateways..as the progid will be registered in gateways...

>>>Why don't we need that when we use a receiver RFC adapter and a receiver R/3 system ?

because RFC recver uses RFC type 3 and not typt T
