Backward Scheduling in SAP

Hello everyone,

I am currently facing an issue for which I dont have the correct logical reasoning.

We have implemented standard Delivery Scheduling in ECC 6.0

I wanted to know the difference between the scheduling done by the system for the 2 materials below:

Item Material Delv Grp Dlv Dat 4 grp Dlvry Date Mat. Avail D Load Date Plant Shp pnt Route

10 Material-1 0 12/02/2009 12/02/2009 11/25/2009 11/30/2009 XXXX 1234 000002

20 Material-2 0 12/02/2009 11/30/2009 11/30/2009 XXXX 1234 000002

Both the materials have the same Shipping Point, Plant, Route

Now since the Material Avail Date = Req. Delv Date - Transit time (2 days int his case) - Loading Time (0 in this case) - Pick Pack Time (5 hrs)

Shipping Point Calender & Route Calender is 5 day Mon thru Friday.

Thus I am not able to understand why the material availability date is different for both the items.

One noticable thins is that item 10 has a 0 stock right now & item 20 has stock.

But I think that should not affect the Delivery Scheduling.

What would be the reason for this behaviour ?

Kindly help me with this behaviour.

Hi Vinit,

Two different materials -- Material -1 & Material - 2.

So in material master two different master records must be available.

Now as they are two different materials the Lead time for those materials to be made available (Considering there is no Stock) will be obviously different.

Hence, there will be a difference in the Material Availability Date.....

From the name itself we may infer Material Availability Date is nothing but the Date on which material can be available in stock for use.

So, as u have mentioned, "item 10 has a 0 stock right now & item 20 has stock"

Definitely there will be a difference.

Sorry ..

I forgot to mention that the item 10 is a MTO item .. which triggers a Assembly Production Order.
