BPM Alerts not sending email notifications

Former Member

Hello Experts,

I've successfully configured BPM within SolMan and alerts are being generated but I'm not receiving any email notifications. In the setup of Business Process Monitoring, "Contacts" have been maintained within the Solution Directory as well as the notifications section of the monitoring type with a sender and a valid recipient address . Both yellow and red alerts are being generated but no email notifications are being sent. Thresholds have also been maintained.

Researching other threads regarding this same issue points to tcode RZ20->SAP CCMS Technical Expert Monitors ->All Monitoring Contexts->BPM->Activate Maintanance Function-> and assiging Central auto reaction methods to MTE Class BPMRoot Context and the other BPM_APPMON_* MTE classes. Is there something that I am missing in order to have these alerts send email notifications when the alert threshold is reached?

I also defined the new Central Auto Reaction method and maintained the parameters properly which calls FM DSWP_BPM_SEND_ALERT. Please assist as I have exhausted all options. Please provide a step by step guide to setup alert notifications if possible.

Thanks

Mike

Hi Volker,

I am able to successfully send a message via Business Workplace and within SolMan as well as the RFC user also has the appropriate roles assigned. What I did was change the recipient type to "U" Internet Type within the BPM setup and then I was able to start receiving email notifications for my BPMon alerts which is currently coming in blank with subject "Alerts Application Monitor (Name of our Solution Landscape)".

I will continue to look into this issue as I don't know which alerts are sending the email notification. Any further thougths would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike,

when sending emails via type 'U' then you should definitely flag the last column 'Details' to get a most meaningful email text. If you don't flag 'Detail' you only get a minimum information which is also compatible with 160 letters available for SMS.

Volker

Hi Mike,

there is no CCMS/RZ20 configuration necessary.

First check if you can directly send out an email via the Business Workplace in Solution Manager(transaction SBWP). If not then probably transaction SCOT is not properly setup.

If yes, then probably emails are not correctly generated from BPMon. That is usually due to missing authorization. Check that the USER in the RFC connection BPM_LOCAL_<Client> fulfills the requirements mentioned in SAP notes 784752 and 455356 especially role SAP_IDOC_EVERYONE.

If the problem persists please open an OSS message on component SV-SMG-MON-BPM so that someone can check your setting sdirectly in the system.

Best Regards

Hi Mohammed,

I forgot to mention that SMTP within SAP Connect has already been setup as we are currently using service desk and notifications are being sent through SMTP.

Hi Naveen,

I followed the path RZ20->SAP CCMS Technical Expert Monitors ->All Monitoring Contexts->BPM --> SID --> Monitor and click on Open alert, select the red alerts and click on Display alerts. Check the status.

The status is showing ACTION_REQUIRED. Can you advise me on how to update the status to ACTIVE?

Currently only the Auto-reaction method is maintained and no methods are maintained for Data collection method or Analysis method.

Please assist.

Thanks

Hi

To check whether the auto reaction method has triggered or not, proceed as below

RZ20->SAP CCMS Technical Expert Monitors ->All Monitoring Contexts->BPM --> SID --> Monitor and click on Open alert, select the red alerts and click on Display alerts. Check the status.

If the status is ACTIVE that means the data is processed.

Hopes this helps you
