Spool error

Dear experts,

I need your expertize. I have a problem with the printing. Using printer LOCL1 I cannot print a thing (for example SE16 data, FICA docs what´s worse etc.). Every spool request ends with error, nothing is printed. I get the following error message:

enq: (FATAL ERROR): 0781-048 Bad queue or device name: __DEFAULT

Status: Incorrect (Error sending data)

In transaction SPAD I have found the LOCL1 properties, tab Access Method: I can see __DEFAULT here in host printer. And that is all I have found and know about printing. The printer was working some time ago, but somebody has changed the settings because it was not printing special characters - Czech language characters - and I don´t know how to correct this.

Can anybody help where to go and what to configure? Have a nice day all, Otto

I didn´t write down the solution here because I didn´t find it myself. A colleague of mine has done that for me. But I have asked him to describe it:

If you need to print using Europe CE characters, Latin 2 needed, use printer type IS2WIN: MS Windows driver

and Access Method F, host printer __DEFAULT etc.

Hope this really will help somebody. Thank you all again. Otto

Hi,

Try changing the Access method to L/G/U.

G:- Frntend printing using Contrl tech

L :-if the spool server is running on a UNIX system and output requests for this printer are to be transferred to the local host spooler.

U:- if the formatting process is to transfer the output data to the remote host system using the Berkeley protocol (BSD).

Aditya

normally u should use LOCL.

the SPAD parameter will be

device type - SWIN

device class - standard printer

also the Host spool method should be - FF ie Printing of front end computer along with host printer _DEFAULT.

thanks,

venkat

Hello, thanks for a quick help. Your post helped me step further but the problem is not compleely resolved.

First, I cannot use SWIN, I don´t need Latin 1, but Latin 2. I use some printer that is proven to work.

Second, access method F is doing the expected, print is started on the client PC SAPGUI but ends with error.

I got the following error message:

Data was saved with character set 4102

Data will be converted to character set 1116 (synt = 1116)

For latin 2, use device type I2SWIN (you will see that this device type has a different character set than SWIN, so that to take into account special characters)
