Hi experts,
We are currently using DB13 on our daily database backup thru LTO tapes. We are running using ORACLE release 9.2.0.7.0 and we currently have 736GB size of data and LTO tapes has a maximum capacity of 800GB. Is there any way we could backup our data using two(2) LTO tapes once we reach more that 800GB size of data? Please enlighten us.
Thanks.
you can probably backup 2500GB (and maybe more) on this tape.
How? Enable compression.
Check on your hardware, many LOT/DLT tape have the possibility to compress at hardware level.
Other possibility: software compression. more about this a\t http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/47/1d4de2aa6a4406e10000000a1553f6/content.htm
in both cases, you will need to set TAPE_SIZE to a higher value such as 2500. I usually get a 4:1 compression rate, so, taht would be 3200. You are very far from taht value, so be conservative on that value.

Hi,
Also, are you archiving ? this would help keep the database size down...
With your release of Oracle and a recent kernel release you should be able to online reorgs which is very stable.
Note: You will not be able to do LONG RAW tables

Hi Deo,
You can take backup to two devices in parallel. You will get a detailed idea using the below link
