How to detect an abnormal disk size growing with SAP ECC 6.0 with AS400

We are facing an abnormal disk space growing and we need to know how to find the rootcuase of this problem, because we have only 2 months working in Produciton system and the free space in disk is only 2% of total disk capacity.

We need to solve this in order to not interrupt user's work due to not available space.

Please provide guidelines to perform disk space or best available actions and tasks to dicrease disk space. We are running SAP ECC 6.0 in a AS400 operative system.

Thanks for your prompt information.

Jesus Rojas

Hi,

A few things :

Did you do a proper sizing exercise...

Have you tought about implementing an archive strategy .

Have a look at Note: 707478

Have a look at transaction db02old ==> detail analysis. and sort the output by size. which tables are the biggest and go from there...Also what is your database size vs free space.

what database are you on ?

Hi,

Check your JRN library..R3<SID>JRN .

You need to delete Old Jernals Otherwise you will face the problem. Atleast every 2 weeks need to clean or schdule it.

you are saying disk space 2%, Your JRN configured in ASP2 or ASP1?

ASP2 means normal users will not get problem othrwise user will not able to connect your SAP system.

Thanks

Jibin.

Hello,

I would suggest using Tcode : DBACOCKPIT to know the history of your database size increase.

Then you can investigate on the tables which are consuming large space.

Also have you check your database journal files you need to take backup of the offline journal files and delete them.

Even the journal information is available in Tcode : DBACOCKPIT.
