Dear All,
We have Versions in APO & Versions in PP.
I am clear on versions in APO, but what is the difference between the two, can anyone explain & summarize.
Thanks
Team Acceval
Hi,
APO version you are saying that you know and it has also been explained above. PP version are the combination of BOM and Recipe(or Routing), Version come up with different combination of BOM alternates and Recipes. If you make any change in BOM then it appears as a different alternate to capture this BOM and Recipe or routing for creating Production or Process oders we require Versions. This is what you maintian in MRP4 view of the Material Master.
The Versions in APO represent a area designated in LC for storing all the Master and Transaction data. By default 000 is the active version where as you can create simulation versions( inactive versions) for the purpose of simulation and testing.
Active vrsion only can be integrated with ECC other versions you have to do copy of the active version.
Thanks,
Harsh

Dear All,
Our query should have been Versions in R/3 or ECC versus Versions in APO.
Because in the R/3 IMG there are settings for versions under
1. APO
2. Basic Data
3. Batch Management
4. Demand Management
5. Logistics
6. Logistics - General
7. LIS
8. Master Data
9. MRP
10. Purchasing
11. Supply Chain Planning Interfaces
All of these have a bearing on APO
Mohit, thanks for the inputs, if all details are available on SAP help, then there is no need for forums such as these right?
Dear Senthil & Harsh, Many thanks for the explanations.
We are looking for answers in light of the above points on Versions in ECC versus APO
If no further inputs are available, we award points to Senthil & Harsh

Hi Acceval,
The functionality between the version differences lies in
the memory part wherein apo uses livecache as
built in memory which stores huge version and
transfers data .
Another difference lies in the planning part wherein
you can plan and simulate different planning scenarios
in APO within different versions and then compare
the results. There is also merge version
functionalities available in APO
Hope this will resolve your query
Please confirm
