SAP PREPARE phase : Unable to import data from Master DVD

Former Member

Hi,

While executing prepare phase we are repeatedly getting the same error. It says -

ERROR: Extraction

of /upg_cd/master/UMN_OS400_PPC64/DBINDEP/CTRL7000.SAR to

directory /usr/sap/put failed.

Check log file CAR.ECO/CAR.SAV for error message.

ERROR: unable to import data from CD, code -62

The same error occurs even if we upgrade in server,exit or scroll mode.

We did not face this error on other systems, not sure what is causing

this. I have tried re-copying the master DVD, reset the prepare phase

couple of times however the same error is encountered. Please help us

resolve this asap as the Upgrade is being delayed.

If the code indicates a read error (see HELP):

Try to use another CDROM drive first (on any remote host).

If this fails too, most likely the CD itself is corrupted.

Hi again....

Can somebody tell me the meaning of this error:

=======================

Remote Call Failed in

O4PRTLIB

::

o4getgidILE

Errno =

2

FILE=

os4pwd.cpp

- LINE=

29

========================

I am getting this while executing Prepare or SAPUP commands. For e.g. while SAPUP ('/usr/sap/put') ('-V')

Nick

Hi Nick,

that error sounds to me, that the SAPUP patch and the SAPUPSRV patch are not in sync - both need to be patched at the same time ...

Hi,

Thank you!

The issue was with the patching of SAPUP and SAPUPSRV like Volker suggested.

Thomas you are right.

Hi Volker,

I patched them again with APYR3FIX on library SAPUP and path /usr/sap/put

I still get the same error as -

ERROR: Extraction of /upg_cd/master/UMN_OS400_PPC64/DBINDEP/CTRL7000.SAR to directory /usr/sap/put failed.

Check log file CAR.ECO/CAR.SAV for error message.

ERROR: unable to import data from CD, code -62

If the code indicates a read error (see HELP):

Try to use another CDROM drive first (on any remote host).

If this fails too, most likely the CD itself is corrupted.

Please help.

Hi Nick,

You should be absoluteley sure you followed the instructions of note 822296 when patching SAPUP and SAPUPSRV library.

Like Volker said, the error when executing 'SAPup -V' indicates that SAPup does not succeed in accessing O4PRTLIB from SAPUPSRV. This might also result from a missing softlink O4PRTLIB to O4PRTLIB.SRVPGM in directory /usr/sap/put/bin. You should check if such a link exists. If not, something went wrong with ececuting command PREPARE at the very beginning. Then you should consider renaming /usr/sap/put and restarting PREPARE with a newly created directory /usr/sap/put

Hi Volker,

From which SAP release are you coming from ?

=> Base release - 4.6c (4.6D_Ext kernel)

Is the kernel patched to the latest level on the source release ? (including SAPCAR)

Which kernel patch are you on ?

=> Kernel patch - 46D_EXT kernel patch 2433

SAPCAR release 620

What are you trying to upgrade to ? ECC60SR3 or BS7 ECC6 EHP4 ?

=> Target release - ECC60SR3

Which CD number are you using as Master CD ?

=> D51033520

Operating system is i5/oS v6r1, PASE and all PTFs are installed

Please suggest what is wrong?

Thanks!
