Memory recommendation for SM 7 EHP 1

Former Member

Dear experts,

I'm installing a new Solution Manager instance for testing purpose. The platform information is:

Windows 2003 x64, 4 CPUs, 7GB Memory

SQL server 2008

I'm getting outofmemory error during J2EE engine start up and I can see that physical memory on server is exhausted. I suppose that the default ABAP and Java instance parameters are not suitable for the amount of memory that is available.

Can you tell me what memory related parameters should be used in ABAP and Java to avoid this? Is there any place that I can find there recommendations?

Regards,

Masoud

Hello Masoud!

What exactly you get in your trace files? Did you start sappfpar program? It can show your "problem" parameters.

Also look at Note 1002587 - Flat Memory Model on Windows and [here|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/02/96268c538111d1891b0000e8322f96/frameset.htm]

Hope it helps you a bit.

Hi Masoud,

As per my knowledge ( and content provided in one of SAP Training material). The size of all the memory, cpu, disk space etc depends on the scenario which will be used with Solution Manager in any particular landscape.

To confirm the sizing parameters for Solution Manager refer below provided URL :

http://service.sap.com/sizing-solman

Refer page 40 of Solution Manager Master Guide available @

https://websmp101.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000718044&_SCENARIO=011000358700000002...

I hope the provided information would be of some help

Hi Artem, Pradeep,

Many thanks for your replies.

This is a test/demo system so I guess what I am asking is the minimum parameter settings that I can run Solution Manager with the resources available on the server. I assumed that SAPINST would use either optimum setting based on the hardware or at least minimum setting but this does not seem to be the case.
