Hiding and Displaying Characteristics based on Top level(Parent) material

Hello all,

Here is the scenario. I have a material 2316 having characteristics "Length" and "Width" and this material is used in Material BOM of 2300 and 2310. I want to hide characteristics "Width" of material 2316 when its parent is 2300 where as i want both characteristics displayed when its parent is material 2310.

Is it possible do perform this hiding and displaying characteristics based on parent material number?

Thanks for your response, But I am looking for controlling this characteristics from object dependencies like Preconditions , Procedure or Constraints
