Installing Multiple Oracle Servers on single host

Hello Gurus,

I am currently installing a new SAP application on an Solaris server that has an existing installation.

On getting to the Oracle software installation stage, i have issues with the existing installation.

To resolve this, I renamed the old oracle files(stage, client, orainventory) in /oracle and created new ones.

On doing this, the is installation does not work because "there is an issue with renaming the client directory.

Am I getting anything wrong?

Regards,

Tolulope

Hi

when you say a new installation on an existing one. Are you using the same filesystem structure or onto a new filesystem structure and you are using one server for two separate database intances ?

Hi Mark,

I have been through the installtion again and have serious Oracle issues.

I renamed the old oracle installtion folders then started a new installtion.

On completing the oracle server and clinet installtion, the inital sap installtion does not work for some strange reason.

I logged on with oraold and the listener works fine, i logg on with oranew and the listener works fine.

The listener is working fine but R3trans -d does not work on the old instance.

any help?

regards,

Tolulope

Please post trans.log after R3trans -dv command.

you renamed the old installation and installed a new - and now R3trans is not working. Is the database up and running?
