Hello Gurus,

I intend to install an several SAP components on a single Solaris Box.

I am currently installing the BI central instance and the installtion

gives an error at the "configure Oracle server network" step.

I get the error "TNS-01106: Listener using listener name LISTENER has

already been started".

I have read through Snote 350251, 37182 & 98252.

Any help?

Regards,

Tolulope

Dear Tolu,

Can you please explain whether you were able to solve this issue?

I am facing the same now, can you please help me in changing the name of my listener.

Thank you

First of all you will have to decide whether all databases will use one listener in common,

or whether each database will have its own.

In the first case you will have to adjust the configuration of your old listener, in the second case you will need a different name and a different port for the second listener.

Probably the second approach will be easier; just choose a name like listener_<SID> instead of the default of listener, and a port like 1528 instead of the default of (I think) 1527.

It's all described somewhere in the guides, search for it! I haven't a link at hand just now.

And by the way, please don't crosspost in multiple forums!

hope this helps

Hi Tolulope,

Please stop the LISTENER which other instances are using and click on Retry. Once "configure Oracle server network" is completed, then the LISTENER will be automatically started. If it is not started automatically, then you can start the LISTENER manually.
