Hi Ravi,

Target group is nothing but grouping of business partner based on some identical characteristic. These identical characteristics were defined in SAP CRM as 4 different types

1. Marketing attributes like hobby

2. Infoset like BP country

3. From BW like sales volume

4. Ay External list.

You can avail more information from the following link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_crm40/helpdata/en/db/58963eac416f01e10000000a114084/frameset.htm

Rav, a target group enables you to generate a group of business partners based on pre-defined charateristics (customizable through Infosets) which you can use to invoke certain activities. Example that comes to min is for instance a promotion campaign. Let's say you would like to run a promotion to all your customer (= business partners) that have bought a certain product from you, let's say a software product. By creating a target group which looks through all sales documents from a certain date till today and who have bought the specific product will be added to that target group. After having created this target group you can issue certain activities to those customers e.g. sent email with notification of software upgrade. Hope this helps, Tiest.
