Whether SAP can be install on MS SQL Server

I'm having MS MSQL Server 7.0 installed on my computer. Do I have to installed SQL SERVER which comes with SAP CD's

Hi..

It is recommed to install SQL which came from SAP...since SAP has tested on that particular version of SQL.

Some of the scrits might also inclued in the SAP provided DVD.

If you use the SAP media you use the "sql4sap.vbs" script to install the database, all settings for the SAP system will be done.

As Marcus said the MS default settings for SQL won't work with SAP, you need to set the collation differently as detailed in the note or use the SAP install. But you also need to check your licensing. Most customers license their DB as part of the SAP license and can use the SAP install disc, but some license their DB through enterprise agreements and need to install using the MS disc.

Hi Raj,

Install SQL SERVER which comes with SAP.

SAP itself wont recommend to install the database,database patches which are not provided by SAP.

Folk, are you agree with this discussion ?

I don't think so, the EWA report mentioning the link of microsoft to download the SQL hotfixes and patches from the microsoft website.
