Are there any good standard order status reports? I'm looking for an overview that will show outstanding quantities and amounts.

Check VA05 and VA05N transactions.

You can use t.code VA05.
However you need to implement SAP Note 37871 to get the required details.

T Code V.02 for Incomplete Sales documents
T.Code VA05 you can see open sales orders OR All orders. you can customize the report layout to just get the value and qty columns.
