OS HP-UX B.11 upgrade to B.23 for server hosting SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE

Hi,

Our Client is having OS Hp-UX B.11 and having requirement to upgrade OS version from B.11 to B.23. Currently server is hosting SAP R/3 Enterprise version. Below is the Kernel Patch information:

Kernel release 640

Compilation HP-UX B.11.00 A 9

Patch Level 196

ABAP Load 1521

CUA load 16

Mode opt

Operating System HP-UX B.11

OP release B.11.11

I have tried to serach SAP service market place for PAM, but could not find specific information on version upgrade from B.11 to B.23

I found oss note 837670 Minimum OS patch recommendations for HP-UX, but it doesn't have information for B.23 version.

The plan is the OS HP-UX B.23 will be installed to new server/host and SAP/Databse file system will be copied to new server.

My Questioin is: If we copy system as it is to new host and if we keep the same Kernel Patch 196, will it work fine or give issue?

I have checked the latest patch 304 and disp+work is having following information:

So even if I got for latest patch 304 which is released on 16.11.2009, still the OS version for which it built is B.11, so if we have B.23, will it work? I would not see the possibilities of kernel upgrade at this stage. so with same kernel will it work? What else I need to check for the migration and make sure that everything works fine on new server.

So you upgrade HP-UX 11.11 to HP-UX 11.23?

Yes - because there is no HP-UX 23.x, only 11.23 and 11.31. For the version overview check

It will work.

Yes, we are upgrading from Hp-UX 11.11 to HP-UX 11.23, sorry for confusion as putted wrongly.

We have development/QA/Test box also, so if we have to upgrade Kernel on all the servers which is not required at this moment

In that case it's should not be a big technical deal, you can do a homogeneous system copy using the same kernel as before. Just make sure you adapt the OS parameters accordingly.
