Changing Base UOM for material in APO

Experts,

We have changed the Base UOM for material in ECC. But when transferred the same to APO through CIF we got the error message saying "Base UOM for material can not be changed". I tried changing the UOM manually in APO and got the same message.

Does it mean we can not change the Base UOM once set? Or is there any alternative way to change the UOM.

Please suggest.

Dear Pavan,

The Base Unit of Measure can not be changed because dependent objects exists. Please use transaction WUF, the Where-used framework to see the list of these dependencies.

The base uom can only be changed, if these dependencies are resolved.

Base UOMs of products should not be changed because APO planning functions cannot be adjusted to this change automatically.

You are not allowed to change the base unit of measure of a location product in APO. This is to ensure that inconsistencies are not made.

Dear Nagy,

Due to certain reasons in our setup, we are facing the challenge to do mass update of Base UOM in APO while plenty of dependent objects still exist. Is there a way to make use of a Z report or BAPI to change the Base UOM in SCM5.0?

Do you have any nice advice?

Base UOM canot be changed if there exists any stock, Open PO , PR etc.

Need to close all these and then try.

Hi Pavan,

Please put deletion flag then delete that product location from APO.

Do the initial transfer.
