Number of records in a table

I was thinking of modifying RFC_READ_TABLE to get over the limit of 30,000 which is standard.

For the AJAX interface where we read only a set of records in a single shot and then wait for user inputs to read the subsequent sets, the handling is already present in the FM in my opinion (ROWSKIPS and ROWCOUNT). Now we can just make a loop and return results to overcome the limitation of the number of records returned. However, the problem being that we want to know the number of entries that a SAP table has (there is a handy button in SE16 which does this). Does anybody have an idea about the coding/FM that would allow me to get the number of records in a table?

Thanks,

Ankan

replied

SELECT COUNT( * ) INTO E_COUNT FROM (I_TABLENAME).

create a FM, import I_TABLENAME, export E_COUNT. done.

anton
