How to clone a MaxDB and change the SID the same time?

I read a doc about using IBM flashcopy to clone a MaxDB.

However the doc does not cover how to change the SID during the cloning.

Would you please help tell how?

Thanks!

Simply answer: you can't.

Less simple answer: you'd have to do a lot of manual changes for that... renaming files ... changing the instance registration ... reinstall parts of the software ...

There is no prepackaged tool available for that.

If you're about ease of use, then don't use flashcopy for that.

Use it for taking backups of the database without affecting the running production database.

To create a system copy, stick with the standard procedure: restore one of your backups.

By doing so you can freely chose the DBSID, the volume layout, the parameters...

If you want to skip the intermediate backup file you may even backup the source database to a pipe and restore the target database from that very pipe. Works like a charm - even for remote pipes.
