change material in serial number without losing history

Hello to all,

I want to change the material of a serial number and that serial number has history. I know that i can do that through transaction IQ02->Edit->Special serial number functions->change material number.

My question is how can i do this without losing the history of the serial number. By following the above path the history no longer exist after the change.

The status of the serial number is ECUS (At customer site).

Please guide

Hello,

first of all you have to maintain the history fields of serial number in customizing.

You follow the path IQ02->Edit->Special serial number functions->change material number

and save it.

then if you enter again you will see that the new material has the serial number and its history.

Can you please share how you have retained the history. I am trying to change the Serial No and system doesnt retain the history after i change serial no from Edit> special serial no function > change Serial no
