Starting Visual composer after installing SP7

Guys,

I am new to portal development. I downloaded and installed SP7 java full version from SDN. It says that VC is included in this package.

Could someone tell me in detail how to start VC? What is the domain and port? I don't remember giving these during installation.

I really appreciate the help.

- Thanks

Hello,

I tried using port 80 as well as 1000. It didn't work. Also I tried "netstat -na" and it didn't list port 1000. Any suggestions guys?

-Thanks

Hi Lokesh,

In EP7 Visual COmposer is a plug-in

You can check if is installed or not searching the Visual Composer Role.

If is installed, you need to assign this role to an user and use it entering replacing /irj/ for /vcserver/ in your portal URL

If VC is not installed you can do it using JSPM application and selecting the "Business Package" option.

Regards.

Ignacio,

I can logon to portal using /irj URL. Does this mean VC is installed?

Where and how do I search VC role? As I am new, I do not know how to navigate. I really appreciate the help.

No, this means that you logon to the Portal, bu tnot the VC. for the VC you need to use a URL like this:

http://<mydomain>:<myport>/VC/default.jsp

To look for roles and users, log on to the Portal(!) and select the tabstrip User Administration/System Administration. It's pretty self explaining.

Mario,

Is there a documentation explaining all this? Looks like there isn't much information in SP7 other than the installation document.

Mario,

I defined xyz.abc.com as domain in hosts file. What about port? Do I need to assign a port? Where do I see what port is used by VC?

- Thanks

1) Under http://help.sap.com/ -> SAP NetWeaver you will find all the documentation and installation guides for the Portal.

2) the default port is 80

BTW: a couple of your questions were already answered in this forum in other threads, just browse them.

If 5100 doesn't work then u can find out simply by doing netstat -a on machine and then see all ports used..

try with 500x00 ports...where x is instance number.

Also make sure you have installed Adobe SVG Viewer on the client machine where u are trying to access this.
