ECC 6.0 to EhP4

Hi all,

we have,

OS: Solaris

Database: Oracle

SAP ECC 6.0(SP-14) R/3

We need to upgrade/install the ECC 6.0 to EhP4.

Is it necessary to install/upgrade EhP1 for netweaver 7.0 and later upgrade with the it to EhP4.

Or, we can install EhP4 directly?

We are not clear in this as we are doing for the first time.

We have referred many documents but still we have some doubts.

Can anyone make this clear?

Thanks for reply and things are very clear to us now.

I want to ask you one more question regarding this, is it possible to install EhP4 without using solution manager as we dont have solution manager installed over here?

It was possible for EHP1 as stated in note Note 1288694 so maybe you can check on SAP Marketplace.

To be honest you should be thinking on installing Solman because it will make your life much easier in the future.

Well, it's true that it is now very difficult to manage SAP systems without Solman because decided to make it mandatory but in its current state Solman very often make our life more difficult.

For example, we just used to Solman to apply EHP4 on an ECC6 system and the so called automagical download feature selected only 95 files from the 182 that we needed from our selection of technical usages.

And our Solman is very up to date (EHP1 SP4)...

So it usually mean that you have to make a solman project (Support packages, OSS notes corrections, configuration) before being able to use for the "real" project.

Hi,

It is not possible to upgrade to EHP4 without solution manager because you need stack xml file which you cannot get without solution manager. Also, you cannot download support packages for EHP4 without solution manager.

You can upgrade to EHP1 without solution manager but for EHP4 it is must. Check SAP note 1143022.

Hi all,

We have ECC6 with Support Package Stack 12, and we would like to apply EHP4 package.

I read that is possiblo to go directly to EHP4 without apply any other SPS, but when I use MOPZ from Solution Manager

in phase 2.4 (Check Files with Stack Dependance) and check only the components of EHP4 and deselect the files related to SPS, during the Check Support Package Queue it goes in error with:

Error: You cannot deselect these Support Packages

and displays all the SPS components (Basis, Abap, BW, SAP_AP...) that MUST be downloaded.

Should I apply them?

Hi,

This is OK as EHP4 needs your NetWeaver (SAP_BASIS, SAP_ABA, PI_BASIS, SAP_BW) components to certain level SP Stack 15 so download these sps as requested.
