Hi ,

I would like to seek clarification on the idea of running 2 SAP DBCI instances (DEV & QAS) in one physical server.

Without VMWARE.

The propose server specs is high enough to run the DEV & QAS as

Obviously disadvantage is when there is a hardware failure both DEV and QAS will be affected.

How about performances? Is there any recomendation from SAP not to do that?

The propose server specs is high enough to run the DEV & QAS together.

SAP Sizing :-

SAP component=ECC6

Concurrent user=30

SAPS from SAP Sizing=2000

Server model = HP DL380G5

CPU = 2 x Intel Xeon E5520 -2.26 GHz, 8MB L3 Cache, 80W, DDR3-1066

Memory= 16GB

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Hi Choon Keet,

If you have done the sizing and if both the instances fit in the same hardware, then definitely you can install both DEV and QA in the same hardware with different instance numbers.

As these are DEV and QA systems, there is no live and progressive data always. So performance should not be an issue.

If you face any performance issues still later, then you can do a system copy and move one instance to another hardware.

Cheers...,

As you mentioned, disadvantages are the single point of failure and maintainance if you use MCOD... but beside that as long as you have enough resources it should not be an issue.
