Incremental Backup

Hi Friends,

In our production landscape we were planning to schedule incremental backup hourly.

I am planning to start backup using DB13. Daily we are taking whole online backup for PROD.

My question is

Do we have to make extra settings for scheduling incremental backup in init<SID>.sap?

Any extra settings needed for this type of backup? ( I have read in help.sap.com, that incremental backup can only be taken with RMAN)

Hi,

Why the overhead of an hourly incremental backup?

Surely if you are taking an whole online backup daily you can survive on this and the archive redo logs if you have a failure.

On failure it's just a restore and roll forward with archived redo's
