During NW701 installation at Central instance installation i get below error when entered the instance number
"The instance number 60 you entered is reserved.
SOLUTION: Choose a different instance number."
How to solve this problem. I have not installed with this number before....
any changes in ser
Hi,
Can you provide some more details such as
1. Is this a shared environment ?
2. Was the installation attempted earlier and uninstalled ?
3.is there any other application running which is potentially using ports from 3260,3360,3660, 560000 in these series.
As far as I am aware 60 is not reserved, hope you are also not repeating the 60 for any input parameters during installation.
Cheers Sam

Hi,
I had the same problem with the old SAPinst (old installation routine). With the new SWPM (Software Provisioning Manager) it is possible to take the 60 as instance number again.
Kind regards
Henning

Hi,
The solution is in the message : don't use 60, choose an other instance number.
The 60 number is reserved, it means that if you choose 60, one of the SAP port will be the same an other common software.
(3660 or 3360 for ex).
The SAP documentation tells
Do not use 43, 60, 89 for the instance number because:
n 43 is used by MSCS
n 60 is used by iSCSI
89 is used by Windows Terminal Server
So choose an other system number !
PS : Is it so difficult to read the installation documentation ?

Olivier
