COM-Error unkown shown in the background SNP heuristic log

Dear Experts,

I ran an SNP Heristic in the background. After the job completed, I looked at the SNP log and saw the COM error unknown below:

COM - error unknown

Message no. /SAPAPO/OM001

A COM routine has encountered a program error.

The program will be terminated.

Can you please tell me what caused this error message? How to correct this problem?

Hi Tom,

Please check the following

1) Whether PPM/PDS is available for the products that you run SNP heuristic

(also try PPM consistency check for single location product & check any error

noticed)

2) Try model consistency check and check all versions are consistent

3) Try livecache consistency check and notice the errors

4) Check the master data are maintained correctly (especially demand, lotsize,

snp1, snp2 tabs)

5) Check the livecache performance is ok with basis team

Hi Tom,

COM error occure when it cannot access data from livecache or when it cannot create simsession.

As a trail do the following.

1) Planning area Initialization

2) TS consistency check

3) /SAPAPO/TS_LCM_REORG_SNP

4)/SAPAPO/TS_LCM_REORG

First run the first 3 then run Heuristics. If problem is there then run the 4 one.

Reorg programs take long time.

Please confirm.

If the problem remains then rais OSS message.

I already ran #3 & 4 but did not resolve the issue. Can you give me the transaction name/program and instruction on how to run for the # 1 & 2 (Planning area Initialization & TS consistency check)

Hi Tom,

/SAPAPO/TS_PAREA_INITIALIZE is for Planning area initialisation,

/SAPAPO/TS_LCM_CONS_CHECK is for TS Consistency check.

Hi Tom,

Even if after running all the consistency checks and after consultation with the Basis guys about the Live cache connectivity, u still face the problem, then its better to raise an OSS message.

Hi Tom,

Which APO release you are using?

It may be due to memory issue, planning version not being passed etc. with live cache. This may be caused by high volume of data being processed.

There are few notes you may consider reading-> 1397188 , 956730

There may be other notes depending on the APO Release.

Hi Tom,

This is a live cache issue.Try running the livecache consistency check.

After the successful completion of ur Live cache consistency, try running the Heuristics again.

hopefully ur issue will resolve, otherwise kindly update.

Hi Sunshine,

Thanks for your input. I did run the consistency check (/SAPAPO/TS_LCM_CONS_CHECK) but still getting the same error message "COM-Error unknown" in the background SNP heuristic log. The SNP background job did complete but because of this errror message in the log, I do not know if the heuritic is planning correctly. Any other input to resolve this error would be much appreciated.

Hi Tom,

Please check the Logs of the Live cache consistency check which u have run. If there is any inconsistency then schedule it again. Otherwise u can run /SAPAPO/om17. U should also consult ur Basis guys to check the status of ur Live chache at present.
