Hi experts,
Availability check does not work when MRP 3 in material master is set followings: strategy group 70, consumption mode 2, fwd consumption per. 30, Bwd consumption per.30. However, when those fields in MRP 3 are set blank, availability check in sales orders works fine as well as in deliveries.
Why? Does it mean availability check in SD cannot work once MRP 3 is made settings? If not, what settings should be set in MRP 3?

Hi Cathy,
Strategy group 70 meand planning at assembly level which again requires a valid BOM to be present for your final product that you entered in the sales order. This strategy is generally used for make to order kind of scenarios and I believe your business is make to stock.
Ofcourse, av. check can be carried out for even make to order scenarios but currently strategy group 70 has not been configured for availability check. once that is done availability check can be done for with the settings that you mentioned also.
Hope this helps

Hi Chandra, Pradyumna,
I tried it again but failed. If using the current settings, how to activate availability check in sales orders and in outbound deliveries? Or, no avialbility check if using strategy group 70, even using availability check 02?
More information:
Yes, MTS scenario. This is Semifinished Product. Currently, other settings in MRP as below:
Availability check 02
Procurement type F
SchedMargin key 000
MRP Type PD
Lot size EX
By the way, availability check works fine in finished product orders and in deliveries. For finished product, except the settings below in material master, other settings are the same as Semifinished Product.
Strategy group 10
Procurement type E
Pls help further. Many thanks.

Hi,
That is correct. If strategy group 70 is assigned then no availability check will be carried out.
Look at the details of this strategy group at SPRO-> Producition ->Production planning ->Demand management ->Planned independant requirements ->Planning strategy ->Define strategy.
Here select strategy group 70 and click on the details. There is no requirement type for customer requirement is assigned. Also no availability check and transfer of requirement are checked.
It is always better to understand the strategy group before assigning in the material master. The strategy group 70-planning at assembly level by name itself indicates, the planning is carried out at the sub-assembly level and not at the finished goods level. You can do a search in SAP help or Google to get enough information on Planning at assembly level.
For example, check the link [Discrete Industry: Planning at Assembly Level|http://www50.sap.com/businessmaps/A28932BF58BD46FB9329FB7498C6CB07.htm]
By the way, why you want to do availability check at the semi finished level? Is this product sold to customer?
Regards
Hi
In Material Master MRP3 view, specify the "MRP Type" from which the "Requirement Class" can be identified.
In that "Requirement Class", availability check must have been marked.
Also specify the "Checking Group" in the Material master data.
