installing Adobe Document Services

We are in the process of installing Adobe Document Services and we are on ECC6.0 system. I have question is there any requirement that we need to upgrade our ECC system from Ecc6.0 to SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 .

Also little confuse between Ecc6.0 and ERP6.0 . Is ERP6.0= ECC6.0 .

Just for ADS you do not need to upgrade to EHP4 but you will surely require a J2EE engine where you need to install ADS.

Also myERP2005 = ERP 6.0 = ECC 6.0 just the way NW2004s became NW 7.0.

Is Application Server Java is same as SAP j2ee engine or j2ee engine is part of the SAP Application server.

if SAp application server is different from j2ee engine then Which version of J2ee engine i should install on Ecc6.0 .

I think you are reading too much of SAP Help and getting confused

AS JAVA is same as SAP J2EE engine. When you install SAP EP for example you can install only the Java Stack, so that becomes your SAP J2EE engine and it means it would contain AS JAVA.

Which version of J2ee engine i should install on Ecc6.0

Since you are using ECC6 which is a part of the Netweaver 7.0 framework you will require Java AS/J2EE 7.00

Also bare in mind you can install Java AS standalone to run ADS, which may be in your best interest if your resources are limited.

You are right on sport on my reading too much on sap help and getting confuse. I just could not understand why SAP cann't decide to keep name simple and keep changing them so often.

Yes we are planning to install EP and i think it would be best to use EP J2ee engine for installing ADS.

Hi Andi,

Sap application server is application platform for all other component which provide the platform to deployment of other Component. As you are deployment ADS into the system.

Sap Aplllication server----

Sap Application server JAVA (J2EE engine )

Sap application server Abap (Abap engine)

To deploy the ADS you require java engine .
