what if a customer return items in which some of those items are already damaged? what is the best treatment of these damaged items? should we do a credit memo if it does't have its cost already? how about the other items that is only partially damaged? how can we revalue its cost? what about in accounting?
Moved from SAP TechEd forum.
Coming to the issue, for the damaged items, if the customer has already been charged, then to that extent, credit note has to be issued. Similarly, if excise invoice is generated, then the same should be adjusted in J1IH. Once you do these, automatically, finance aspect will be taken care in the background.
thanks

Hello Francis
1.What if a customer return items in which some of those items are already damaged à Here the question is if it damaged while shipping to the customer & the agreed incoterm is CIF, then we have to give a credit for the same. You can take a return & issue credit against the return.
2.What is the best treatment of these damaged items? à Damaged goods cannot be moved to unrestricted stock. Based on the companies decision you need to create a scrap sale order. Here for cost posting, you can link the G/Lu2019s to order reason. You need to have a order reason. For e.g. cost absorbed by sales team etc etc. This needs to be configured in the system by involving FICO consultants.
3.Should we do a credit memo if it does't have its cost already? à you need to have a credit memo if the point 1 is applicable.
4.how about the other items that is only partially damaged? how can we revalue its cost? what about in accounting? à solution for this is point 2. You need to create a new order types for scrap sales, have a discussions with FICO consultants to post the cost through internal order etc. there are many options.
thank you

Hello Francis
Cost incured in producing the product which is partially damaged at later stage & the product in good condition is same.
I dont think this it is a good idea to reduce the cost.
Instead, you can sell the particular product by granting special discount on the selling price.
thank you
