Hi,
I want to Add a Satellite System to Solman . do i have to add this system to solman with smsy only . or any other activities i have to perform on solman and satellite system..
Thanks
Shashi
Hi Shashi,
1> Add system into SMSY (with all RFC, logical component etc.)
2>Create solution in DSWP and add system their.
Thats all.

Hi,
If you have the SLD data synchronization active between your SM system and SLD then all the server, DB, system entries would be fetched from SLD and it'll be updated.
If not, goto SMSY and define:
1) Server --> host name, IP etc
2) DB --> DB details
3) System --> R3, Netweaever etc, assign proper components, products
4) define and assign logical components for the system defined in step 3
5) generate RFC destionation to the satellite system
6) Provided you have the necessary trusted authorization and if the RFCs are generated successfully then your task is done. Else you'll have to troubleshoot.
Once this is done, you need to goto SOLUTION_MANAGER and define
1) new solution
2) make necessary inclusion in Solution Landscape Maintenance
3) include logical component
This completes the system setup for you.
Then you need to define the EWA, SLRs etc, as per your requirement.
Hope this helps.

Hi, I take it that You have a local SLD for Your Solman system, and in that SLD the actual satellite system is present.
Then You have kind of 3 ways to "add" satellitesystems into Your Solman system:
The one that You mentioned via SMSY (the manual way)
secondly via TMS
and as a third option You can synchronize Your landscape with SLD.
If the latter (which is preferrable), You can setup Your Solman system to be automatically synchronized with Your local SLD (or any SLD You'd like)
Use transaction: SMSY_SETUP and point to Your SLD. It will automatically schedule the "LANDSCAPE_FETCH" job (runs every hour), which will synchronize Your SAP system landscape (SMSY) with the systems in SLD automatically.
This link somehow clearify it: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/en/5d/3c6c5e83554c348f02ab2f70e16a56/content.htm
From there (SMSY) You can setup the RFC connections via the wizard - but I guess You allready are familiar with that.
Have fun.
