loading customer data into MDM, whenever a name have one of this characters, sooner or later it will fail
as far as I have seen, the first time it goes through with no problem, but whenever a new line comes with the equivalent name but written with the appropriate character translation, it fails.
so, it seems, that in a early stage of the record identification, the characters are treated as equal (i.e. Æ and AE), so that step does not propose new value, but when the real matching / identification / insertion is done, then are treated as different and the record can not be added
I have try to replace them using the MDM functionality, but as I can change "re" by "ty" (i.e.) without problem, MDM does not work to change "Æ" to "AE"
anybody knows a solution for that ?
preferable: MDM treats them as different in all cases, and work with them as different characters
otherwise, a way to replace all this characters into the equivalent ones
I think, so far, the proposed translation are
Ö to OE, Ø to OE, Ä to AE, Æ to AE, Å to AA, Ü to UE, Í to I, É to E, Á to A, Ó to O, Ñ to N
thanks in advance
note: using MDM 5.5 now, preparing to migrate soon to MDM 7, if that may make a diference

Hello Pedro
If you cannot change special symbols over the time of the import process, you should change it before.
As variant, you can use mass upload appication for replacement one to another or standart text editor(if your sources in txt or XML)
if you get source files from PI/XI you can used Note 800354

Hello Pedro
You can replace all this characters into the equivalent ones in Import manager and save it to import map
Than you can applying that import map for next import process
and your replacement will applly automatically

yes, that I have try
but for some reason does not replace those special characters,
It is what I mean before,
if I make a replacemnt like "dd" by "gt" (to put a silly example), it works
if I make a replacement like "Æ" by "AE" is ignore and nothing get changed
what can be the reason for that ??
any other idea ??
thanks again
