Hi
We are in the power generation industry. We do not transmit or distribute power, but only generate through 4 of our power plants. As of now, inventory, MM, sales and Finance are crucial for us and we are thinking of SAP ECC 6.0. We do not feel we need a full blown SAP-IS(U) now.
Please advice on if SAP ECC6.0 is a good choice and if yes, what are the things we need to consider to implement MM, Sales and Financials. In Phase 2 (after more than a year) we plan to add PP module.

Hello,
SAP IS(U) is a full or end to end solution specially customised for energy and power generation.
But as you mentioned you are not into distribution and transmission you will not utilise the full functionality you will be paying for. I guess cost must be the concern in rolling out of SAP IS(U)
In this senario definatly SAP ECC 6.0 would be better choice if the aim is to control MM,sales and finance..even PP.
you may need some customisations for Power generation in these module definatly consider the cost for them while chosing the system.
If not many customisations involved then rolling out MM,Sales, finance follwed by PP would be good solution.
