Hi,

This is a generic problem for any installation if the memory is not suffice for R3LOAD.

Repairing this error :

Go to command prompt,

1.sqlplus /nolog

2.connect /as sysdba

3.shutdown.

Navigate to init<sid>.ora file to change the parameter for shared_pool_size and shared_pool_reserved_size

You can find this in directory : \oracle\<sid>\102\database

Increase this and start the database again,

1. sqlplus /nolog

2.connect /as sysdba

3. startup

and click on retry for the installation.

Thanks and Regards,

Chetan.

Please refer to the thread

Shared memory size should be at least 400MB. You can check a lot of same problems in SAP on Oracle section

Hi ,

Please increase your system virtual memory. your system RAM is 2 GB then you increase your virtual memory 8 GB. And Please check your database is up if your database is down then you have to start your database manually via command prompt and try to start installation again with old installation option. You can try via user sidadm also.

Hello

System is not accepting more than 4096 MB Virtual memory

hi

if it ia windows 2003 standard edition it will take 4096 only .so for example u have 2 drives if u have set 4096 to one drive and just set 4096 to other drive also this will resolve your virtual memory setting.

Have you read the answer related to Shared pool size problem. Untill unless you would not read and increase the shared pool size memory your problem will not be resolved.

hi

if you are running the installation as administrator log off and then log in as sidadm before that set the password for sid adm right click mange local users and groups in that select users in users sidadm will be there right click and set the password log off as administrator and then do the login as sidadm .and start the installation.

and moreover to check the databse is up

sqlplus /nolog --> connect /as sysdba

if it is connected to idle instance then enter the command as startup which will start the database.

Hi,

Starting the sap installation will not resolve your issue.

Please let us know the value of the parameter

shared_pool_size = <Value>
shared_pool_reserved_size = <Value>

You will find these parameters in init<SID>.ora file under path E:\oracle\<SID>\102\database

Thanks,

Shambo

Here Shared_pool_size = 150837657 # 10% of shared_pool_size

shared_pool_reserved_size = 150837657

Former Member

Hi,

Change the values to

Shared_pool_size = 268435456 # 10% of shared_pool_size

shared_pool_reserved_size = 26843546

After changes done in the init<SID>.ora file stop & start the database & restart the sapinst.

Hope this will help you.

Thanks,

Shambo

Hi,

how to restart sapinst

Former Member
0 Kudos

Hi,

You can start the SAPinst from your Dumps as you started earlier. After starting the SAPinst choose the SAP component as your want to install & selected earlier. At this time it will ask for 2 options like continue with old installation OR start new installation. Here select the Continue with old installation & click on Ok button. SAPinst will start the installtion from that point where it was stopped.

But before starting the SAPinst you have to start the Oracle database manually using SQL*PLUS.

sqlplus /nolog

SQL>connect / as sysdba

Connected to Idle instance

SQL>startup

Thanks,

Shambo

Hello

Virtual Memory:

Before starting SAP Installation, you should verify your Virtual memory size:

For 32 Bit, it should be 2 X RAM Size + 500 MB.

For 64 Bit, it should be 10 GB - 20 GB.

Right Click on My Computer -> Manage -> Advanced -> Performance Settings -> Advanced-> Virtual Memory -> Change

Enter the values and click on Set button [if your C Drive has less free space, you can use your other drives also]

Restart your computer.

Oracle database:

Make sure you are using the right Oracle version 10.2.0.2 and java version 1.4.2.12

You have to login through <SID>ADM user.

login command: sqlplus "/as sysdba"

Oracle status: select status from v$instance;

Start database: startup;

Shutdown database: shutdown immediate;

SAP Installation

You can always start the installation from where you have stopped. [Just use continue old installation option]

if you face an issue with the shared memory cannot allocate space, shutdown and restart the database and then retry SAP Installation.

If you use specify more than 3 parallel processes option, then you have to go for the oracle parameters. Else no need.
