Not able to test external web service in WS Navigator

Hi All,

I am trying to test the external web service using WS Navigator and putting the URL in WSDL URL. I have also configured the host , port and allowed host in the SOA Middleware Global Settings: HTTP Proxy. I am getting the following error:

http://URL for WSDL: Unable to connect to www.hostname.net:80 - www.hostname.net

I checked with the system and network administrator and they told me that port 80 is enabled and open since I was able to access the url for wsdl using IE as all the http request are sent through port 80, so that is not the issue.

The suitable reason that seems obvious to me and I found it while surfing sdn:

This is obviously the corporate firewall which prevents you to connect to the public web service.

If one of your SAP corporate server had a direct access to the Internet that would be a very serious security breach in your company.

You may be able to use the corporate proxy to get access to the internet but it is not sure at all.

In my company, for example, the servers are forbidden to use the corporate proxy.

Each internet access needs a security project and specific security rules. There is no way to connect a SAP server to the internet for "just a test".

Any inputs how can I do that?

Also please tell if I am missing out anything and how can I use the third party wsdl/web service in a BPM process? Any guides or articles?

Please help.

Regards.

Rajat

Hi,

>Any inputs how can I do that?

As you quote one of my message, I will clarify what I thought was already obvious.

It the security policy of each company which decides if it is allowed (and if yes, how) to give access to the internet from a SAP server. So nobody from outside your company can tell you how to do that.

The best advice is go and speak with your network security team...

Hi,

I have found that the portal supports working through a network proxy server to control and limit access to resources outside the company domain. I have also done the System Properties for Proxy Server settings as mentioned in the link below:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce711/helpdata/en/33/8abf9e0ce011d7b84900047582c9f7/frameset.htm

But still I am getting the same error.

I have also tried to import the WSDL in WD DC by using URL but when I deploy the WD DC and application again I am getting the same error.

Still waiting for the responses.
