Retention periods same for the deletion and for archiving then deletion

Hi,

Is Retention periods same for the deletion and for archiving then deletion.

Can we delete canceled messages directly in XI wihtout archiving them ?

I want only deltion of messages from XI.

Hi,

We can delete messages without archiving,run SAP_BC_XMB_DELETE_clientno,check first these deletion job carried out or not using SE37 .or other way is go to SXMB_ADM Transaction code --.>schedule deletion jobs and select bottom jobs.

But if you already defined retention periods these deletion not going to carried out. so you can reset the values as per you convinet using SXMB_ADM-->DEFINE INTERFACES FOR ARCHIVING AND DELETION.

I have done what you said.

any thing should i configure?

I have lot of error messages and succesful messages created in two years back.

I want to delete them. No archiving is required.

help me.

Hi,

The interface should be marked for archival/deletion prior to the message processing for that interface.

Since many of the relevant flags are persisted on database during the processing time of a message and can not

be changed easily afterwards, Archiving and Deletion has to be configured prior to GoLive.

So in your case the effect of deletion job will be on messages that processed after the job has been schedulled.
