Hi all
I have the Sap preview installed on another machine on a LAN - but its in a different room. I know its IP local address and the remote computer is pingable.
How do I logon to the SAP system from my own machine using the SAPGUI.
what parameters do I need in the hosts file and in the saplogon ini file on my local machine.
(I only want to logon to the SAP system - not use RDP etc to logon to the server).
Remote system is running Windows 2003 server.
remote system - system id NSP, system nr 00.
cheers and thanks (I'm a total newbie when it comes to any sort of networking)

I would recommend to read [THIS|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/16165] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]; blog.

Thanks -- The problem was trying to logon to a installation on an XP machine -- not a server
When installed on a server remote connection worked fine via SAPGUI. (Didn't want to use RDP but just connect to the SAP system directly).
Via the web it also worked - webgui in the browser.
Cheers

You should be able to put in the IP for the application server, the system number, and the System ID within SAPGUI (click 'New Item' button, etc.). For a straight connection you don't need to enter a saprouter string.
Hope that helps.
